Watching my youngest son, Ivar, dash to the front door every time the postman arrived—only to be disappointed when there was no mail for him—sparked an idea. “What if I wrote him a letter to arrive with ours?”. I decided to write him a letter about a historical event: the Battle of Hastings (the first in the series, by the way).
When the letter arrived, his eyes lit up and we sat down to read it together. It was a special moment to share with my son and great to get him off screens for a while!
I began writing a new letter each month and that’s how Noah’s Letters was born. Each letter became a thrilling adventure for all three of my children. The anticipation for each new letter was a joy to witness.
Now, as we share these letters with other families, we hope to inspire a love for history in children everywhere.
